Timber
A simple to use, vanilla-like, comprehensive, properly integrated and versatile timber enchantment.
Thanks to the changes in the latest 1.21 snapshot (23w18a) we can now add proper enchantments to vanilla without mods!
This timber enchantment is fully integrated into the world of minecraft. You can get it on your axe through enchantmenting at an enchantment table (with the same rarity and requirements as silk touch), can buy it from villagers or find it as loot.
To activate, sneak while breaking a log block.
This will break all connected log blocks of the same type. It will take away one damage point from your axe for every log it breaks this way. It respects unbreaking enchantments and looses less durability accordingly, as well as any other enchantments that can take effect when breaking logs.
Feedback
I want to improve this datapack in any ways I can. So if you have any feedback of what you would like to see added or changed, send me an email at contact@plagiatus.net, contact me through my contact form on my website or contact me on Discord (plagiatus
).
For example if you'd like an option to also check for diagonally adjacent blocks. Or to add all wooden blocks. Or to automatically break leaves. Or to automatically replant the tree if possible.
Limitations of versions v0.1 - v0.2
(no longer the case in v1.0 and above as I've implemented the promised workaround)
Due to the vanilla enchantment limitations, you didn't need to actually break the first log block, but can just click it. This makes this enchantment an insta-break enchantment for all log blocks, technically. I want to remove this as soon as possible, preferably without adding hacky workarounds. Unfortunately even the stable release of enchantments didn't provide us with an intended way to do this, so if I'll implement it, it would need to use (likely hacky) workarounds.
